Dr Balamurugan Shanmugam is the Director of Research and Development at Mindnotix Technologies, India. He has over 150 publications in various international journals and conferences to his credit, and he has also authored/co-authored 12 books. He is currently in the process of authoring a further three books.
As Director of Research and Development at Mindnotix, he and his team won the 2017 CSI Young IT Professional Award for Region-7, awarded by the Computer Society of India, Coimbatore Chapter. He is also the recipient of the Best Researcher Award, from the IARA, the Certificate of Exceptionalism (2017) from the ASDF, the Young Scientist Award from the IASTE, and the Best Young Researcher Award from the AIRF.
He was awarded with D.Litt., degree for his significant contribution to research and development in Engineering, and was selected for the Best Director Award, 2018. He served as the Joint Secretary of ITA during his BTech at PSG College of Technology, India.
He carried out a healthcare consultancy project for VGM Hospitals between 2013 and 2016, and his current research projects include “Women Empowerment using IoT”, “Health-Aware Smart Chair”, “Advanced Brain Simulators for Assisting Physiological Medicine”, “Designing Novel Health Bands” and “IoT -based Devices for Assisting Elderly People”.
His professional activities include roles as Associate Editor, editorial board member and/or reviewer for more than 100 international journals and conferences. He has been an invited Session Chair for more than 25 conferences, as well as an invited Chief Guest/Resource Person by many colleges affiliated to Anna University and Bharathiyar University.
His research interests include Augmented Reality, the Internet of Things, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, and Wearable Computing. He is a life member of the ACM, ISTE and CSI.

About Affiliation
MINDNOTIX Technologies was started in 2012 with a team of 3 people. Stared with a vision of “App for everyone”, we were in the research phase till December 2012. Our first milestone was creation of Online Course Simulator for StarGlobal, an oil-and gas company. We successfully launched our first project for Aid4Hearts, a USA based charity with a market value of $ 500 USD. Our next project was MODI market- a classified site for online buying and selling. We built the app for Netherland client for a market value of Rs.1,00,000. Our next milestone begun on 2013, with 3D-Printing customized web application, where the customer can upload design details and get the 3D model of the same. The app was tailored for Hyderabad client with a market value of Rs.1,50,000. Our next venture was on healthcare, with the creation of Curbcancer, a second medical opinion application platform for people with a market value of Rs.1,50,000. We launched our first product on 2013 named “FOODROID”, an Automated App for restaurants. In 2014, we developed OPD(Out Patient Department), an online appointment healthcare App which is capable of listing availability of doctors, duty doctors etc. Our next step in Industrial Automation was on 2014, where we developed our App and Integrated with already existing ARP system for Kanthan Knits Garments. Our greatest milestone in MINDNOTIX till present is Tayazy-a Cricket Analytics App. Our esteemed client for this effective app is Mr.Lakshmipathi Balaji, former Indian Cricketer and fast bowler. This app provides has the feature of providing comparative analysis, forecasting mechanisms. The App was tested in Kolkata Knight Riders, 2017, and we were provided with an encouraging feedback. We work meticulously on Tayazy App for the third consecutive year. In 2017, we have leaped into Augmented Reality and Articulated Naturality Web, by serving our customer MAX Fashion Designing, Dubai. Mindnotix Technologies team bagged the “Winner” of CSI Young IT Professional Award, 2017 of Region-7 (comprising of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andaman and Nicobar, Kerala, Lakshadweep) hosted by CSI-Coimbatore Chapter, 17th September 2017 for our research product, “Vibo:An Artificial Intelligence Based Machine Learning Robot for Assisting Physiotherapists”. One of the Augmented Reality App, developed by Mindnotix Technologies named “MeyRai” App for interior decoration is currently trending and is available in Google Play store.
