Dr Baskar Gurunathan is currently working as Professor of Biotechnology in St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai. He has published more than 120 research and review papers in National and International Journals. To his credit, he has presented more than 100 papers in a national and international forum and published 13 chapters in books. He is an active life member of various national and international professional bodies. He has delivered several invited lectures and chaired technical sessions at national and international conferences. His current research expertise in developing therapeutic proteins, microbial enzymes, nanomedicine, nanocatalysis and biofuels indicates his thirst towards research and development is multidisciplinary areas of Biotechnology. He was the Course Director of 3 weeks STTP on Fermentation and Downstream Processing sponsored by Department of Biotechnology-GOI in 2014. Dr Baskar has received funded projects worth of Rs.55.4 lakhs from SERB-DST and DBT, GOI. He is the recipient of Outstanding Reviewer Award from various Elsevier journals, Outstanding Researcher on Renewable Energy Award from Indian Society for Technical Education, New Delhi in 2016 and Young Scientist Award 2015 from International Bioprocessing Association, France.
