About Affiliation
CWPRS is a premier hydraulic research institute under MoWR, RD & GR established in 1916 and serving the country through research. CWPRS has been recognized as the regional laboratory for ESCAP region in the field of water resources and waterborne transport. Since inception, CWPRS has been actively involved in client sponsored applied research and basic research adopting physical and analogue models. With the advent of computers and development in mathematical modelling techniques during 1970’s and 80’s, in water resources sector, CWPRS also took the lead and started adopting mathematical modelling techniques. The major research activities of CWPRS have been broadly classified into following 7 disciplines, viz., (1) River and Reservoir Systems Modeling (R&RSM) (2) River Engineering, (3) Reservoir and Appurtenant Structures, (4) Foundation and Structures, (5) Applied Earth Sciences, (6) Coastal and Offshore Engineering and (7) Instrumentation, Calibration and Testing Facilities. CWPRS is completing its centenary in 2016 by serving the nation through applied and basic research in water resources.
