About Affiliation

SASTRA has an ethos of its own, different from others. At a time when liberal ideals and common interests seem to have given way to interests in materialism, SASTRA presents a holistic approach to personal and professional growth. The need to educate and train young men and women, to hone them into professionally competent, rounded personalities is what led the creation of Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA) in 1984.

A sprawling campus housing a built-up area of over 2.7 million square feet and a vibrant population of over 12000 students and over 700 teaching faculty have made SASTRA a landmark in the educational map of India. SASTRA offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering, Management, Law, Education, Arts and Science besides different doctoral programmed supported by state-of-art laboratories, a well-stocked library and one of the best computing facilities in the country. With an ideal teacher-taught ratio, the university strives for academic excellence through personalized attention. Since its inception, SASTRA has achieved national standing in terms of academic performance, co-curricular and extracurricular activities and also in its growth and commitment to social service. The standard of excellence of its courses is reflected in the grades awarded to the University by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and in the success of its students in both industry and academia, both in India and abroad. SASTRA has also been re-accredited with Grade ‘A’ (Maximum) by the NAAC a statutory body of U.G.C. SASTRA shapes its students’ future by fostering a teamwork approach to instruction, encouraging interaction with faculty, providing access to high tech information, motivating them to develop new ideas and concepts, taking a personal interest in students’ career development and preparing them for success.
