Dr Hemaraju Pollayi Seetharama Murthy Pollayi is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering at the School of Technology – GITAM University Hyderabad, with broad disciplinary interests that span Self-Healing Materials and Structures, Non-Linear Mechanics of Composite Structures, Continuum Damage Mechanics, Multi-Body Dynamics, M/NEMS, Building Fire-Resistant Structures, Sustainable Construction Materials for Cold Climates, Low Cost-Affordable Housing, Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) Applications.
He received his BE with Distinction (79.66%) in Civil Engineering from OU-Hyderabad in 2000 and MTech with First Class (8.25/10) in Civil Engineering (Structures) from IIT-Guwahati in 2003. He received his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from IISc-Bangalore in 2010. Upon graduating, he joined Mechanical Engineering at IISc as a Post-Doc from 2010-11 and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Utah State University-USA from 2011-13. He served as an Associate Professor in Aeronautical Engineering at MRCET-Hyderabad.
He appointed as Editorial Board Member in American Journal of Civil Engineering. He received Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing Award from Editors of Composite Structures, Elsevier-Netherlands and recognized in Marquis Who’s Who Database-USA.
He is a Member of AIAA (The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics-Membership No. 427833) and ISCA (The Indian Science Congress Association-Membership No. L31268).
He received Excellent PhD Thesis-2010 Appreciation from International Reviewer, Prof. Andreas Mueller-University of Duisburg Essen, Germany.
He has 4-years of post-doc research experience in Solid Mechanics and Structural Health Monitoring immediately after PhD and about 5-years of teaching experience in Structural Dynamics.
He published two-monographs as part of Post-Doc: [1] VABS-GUI Manual, [2] Thermal Considerations in Design of NEMS Structures.

Currently, 1-BTech project (total students: 5) is in progress and guiding 7-PhD students working on various fields such as Modeling Self-Healing in Fibre Reinforced Composite Structures within VAM-CDHM Framework, Analysis and Design of Railway Turnout Sleepers, Computational Modeling of Self-Healing Materials and Structures, Structural Health Monitoring and Life Prognosis of Fibre-Reinforced Composite Helicopter Rotor Blades, Development of High-Performance Concrete (HPC) using Recycled Aggregates and Admixtures, Ageing of Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Composites and Computational Acoustic Analysis of a Laminated Composite Waveguide.
He successfully submitted research proposals to AR & DB entitled “Modeling Natural Fibre-Reinforced Composites for Aerospace Applications” which is under sanction [Project No. 3553] and SERB-DST (ECR) entitled “Asymptotical Modeling of Fibre-Reinforced Composite Sandwich Structures for Railway Applications” [with File No. ECR/2017/001367].
