Miroslav Mateev Svilena Mateeva

Miroslav Mateev Svilena Mateeva is a Vice President for Research and Advancement at the American University in the Emirates (AUE), Dubai. Prior to joining the AUE, he taught at the American University in Bulgaria and the University of Maine Business School, USA. His academic experience is related to the following areas: corporate finance and investment, advanced corporate finance, international financial management, company valuation and value creation, investment and portfolio management, and risk analysis and evaluation.

Professor Miroslav holds two doctoral degrees – PhD in Industrial Management and Doctor of Economic Sciences in Finance, from the University of National and World Economy, Sofia. His interest in teaching was conceived 20 years ago during his MSc. Degree study in International Finance at London Business School in the UK. He also specialised at Harvard Business School and the European Foundation for Entrepreneurial Research (EFER), where he focused on case writing and case teaching as part of his teaching methodology.

Professor Miroslav has published five textbooks, six case studies and more than 100 papers in the areas of corporate finance, risk management, small business development, foreign direct investment, M&A, and bank regulation. His recent research is focused on bank performance and risk raking in the MENA region.
