Ravishankar Sathyamurthy born on 5/11/1988 graduated his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Vel Multitech Dr.Rangarajan Sakunthala Engineering College in 2010 and his Master’s degree in Thermal Engineering from Regional Centre for Anna University, Thirunelveli in the year 2012. He is a Gold medal and rank holder in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vel Multitech Dr.Rangarajan Sakunthala Engineering College in 2010. He is also a recipient of the Gold medal for excellence of merit and bagged the University 1st rank from Anna University, Chennai (2010-2012). During the 2010-2012 periods, he involved himself in several projects and accomplished all the works.
He started his career in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, St. Peters College of Engineering and Technology, Chennai from 2012-2013 as a Lecturer.
With a huge interest in the non-renewable energy sector on thermal energy applications, he resigned his job and joined as a teaching research assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Hindustan University, Chennai. He has actively involved himself in several innovative ideas in the field of solar desalination technique including waste heat recovery from absorber of solar still.
With several interests he is having a very good name in the scientific community including the collaboration with Prof. A. Ahsan, University Putra Malaysia, Prof. S.A. El-Agouz, Tanta University, Egypt, Prof. K. Kalidasa Murugavel, National Engineering College, Kovilpatti and Prof. Yusuf H Zurigat, American University of Sharjah, whom his works are much inspired.
He is actively involved in various social activities and member of multiple societies such as American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), Indian Society for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), American Society for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and Solar Energy Society of India (SESI). He has reviewed more than 400 international articles and being a reviewer of several International journals such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy-A Review, Desalination, Environmental Progress and Sustainable Energy, Desalination and Water Treatment, Institute of Engineers-Part C India, Energy Conversion and Management, Case Studies in Thermal Engineering.
To his credit, he attended 10 international conferences and attended several workshops, webinars and seminars related to renewable energy. He has published 92 international articles in Journals such as Desalination, Energy Conversion and Management, Process Safety and Environmental protection, Renewable and sustainable energy-A review, Journal of ambient energy, Desalination and Water treatment, Environmental Progress and Sustainable Energy, Applied Solar Energy, Journal of Ambient energy and Energy Procedia which all publishers are SCOPUS, ISI, SCI indexed with well deserving impact factor. He has also applied for 2 Indian patents in relation to effective cover cooling cum distillation and use of waste heat recovery from Peltier effect. Now he is working on the effective distillation system by using low-cost Peltier element to replace the existing domestic Reverse Osmosis system as it rejects 75% of brine as waste and converts only 25% as drinking water.
