Chandrasekaran Vellankoil Marappan is presently working as Professor in the Department of Mathematics, School of Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, Republic of India. He started his educational career in Gobi Arts College (Affiliated to the University of Madras) with the specialisation of Physics, Chemistry and Fluid Dynamics for his Bachelor of Science in the year 1980. He continued Master of Science with the speciality of Mathematical Statistics and Operational Research from the Gobi Arts College which is affiliated to the Bharathiar University. He was awarded Master of Science in the year 1985. His robust research thirst induced him to pursue Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy from Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics which was affiliated to the University of Madras in the year 1987 and 1997 respectively. He has been awarded the Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Algebra.
Chandrasekaran has been an exclusive asset for VIT university since 1993. He has served in various capacities within VIT university. In various Journals and Conferences, he has published over 120 articles. The publications widely include 82 Journal publications and 30 Conference publications. He has published eight books like Feedback queueing models with optional vacations and unreliable server, Multivariable calculus and Differential equations, Calculus and Analysis and many such. He has delivered more than 30 Guest Lectures and 15 Keynote Speeches to share his expertise. He has also been awarded the grant of 20000 USD in the year 2015 for his project titled ‘Performance Analysis of Single Server Retrial Queueing System with Vacations and Unreliable Server’ by the National Board for Higher Mathematics which was established under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
Chandrasekaran has successfully guided over 11 Doctor of Philosophy scholars and 7 Master of Philosophy scholars. He has also mentored various Undergraduate and Post Graduate students. He is a reviewer for multiple Conferences and Journals globally. He is an editorial board member for International Journal of Mathematical Sciences (IJMS) since 2005; International Review of Pure and Applied Mathematics since 2005; The Global Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences since 2004; International Journal of Advance in Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences; Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM) since 2014; International Journal of Research in Mathematics & Computation (IJRMC) since 2013 and Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology (RJPT) since 2016. He has organised various Faculty Development Program, Conferences, Workshops and Seminars.
Chandrasekaran is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Indian Mathematical Society (IMS), Ramanujan Mathematical Society, Computer Society of India(CSI) and Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM). IRDP Group has awarded him Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Reformer Award in the year 2018. He has also been awarded Lifetime Achievement in Science in the year 2018. To glorify his contributions towards education he has been awarded Outstanding Educator & Scholar award by National Foundation For Entrepreneurship Development [NFED] in the year 2019.
Chandrasekaran is happily married to Santhi Karumanchirai Manasekar since 1986 and has two daughters. His area of interests is Queuing Theory, Algebra, Graph Theory, Numerical Methods, Cryptography and Theory of Computation. His favourite pastime is reading books, listening to music and playing volleyball.

It was established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, and was founded in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College. The Union Ministry of Human Resources Development conferred University status on Vellore Engineering College in 2001. The University is headed by its founder and Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government. In recognition of his service to India in offering world class education, he was conferred an honorary doctorate by the West Virginia University, USA. Mr.Sankar Viswanathan, Dr.Sekar Viswanathan and Mr.G.V. Selvam are the Vice-Presidents; Dr. Anand A. Samuel is the Vice-Chancellor and Dr. S. Narayanan is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
